Compiled and mixed March 2016 by J. Cawood (Panda Magic.)
The title comes from Jonathan Ashworth (founder of Monkeydeed) who, in 1994, wished for some kind of automatic process which would derail any innate tendencies toward hackneyed predictability or traditional formula in music. This theoretical creative safeguard became known as the “anti-cliché internal defeat mechanism.” Jonathan and I communicated between Canada and the U.S.A. mostly via mixtapes throughout the 90s and this mix is a tribute to that era.
